Substitutions & Variations

  • Fruits: Feel free to substitute or add other fruits. Some great options include pineapple, banana, pomegranate, grape, orange, peach or apple. Use seasonal fruits for the freshest flavors.
  • Citrus: If you don’t have fresh lime juice, use fresh lemon juice or orange juice for a citrusy dressing.
  • Fruit Salsa: Dice the fruits into smaller pieces. Mix them with diced red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, extra lime juice and a pinch of salt for an unbelievably good salsa. Serve it as a dip or as a side for grilled chicken or grilled fish. We love it!
  • Fruit Smoothie: Throw all your fruits into your trusty blender. Skip basil and mint for this recipe. Add a generous amount of fresh pineapple. Blend until a silky-smooth gorgeous juice and serve it over ice cubes.
  • Smoothie: Blend the fruit with yogurt or almond milk. You might want to add a few slices of banana for extra creaminess!

FAQs

The way to pronounce is ‘mah-cheh-doh-nee-ah dee froot-tah’, with the stress on ‘doh’ and ‘froot’.

Certainly, you can store it in the fridge up to two hours before serving without compromising on freshness. We like to serve it slightly chilled, especially on hot days. To keep the fruit fresh and crisp, add the dressing and herbs just before serving.

Store any leftover Macedonia di Frutta in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. We use it to make smoothies.
